Onwards and Upwards – Our First Hire of 2024

Introduction

Starting a new job can be nerve-wracking, daunting and stressful, which is something I’ve learnt from experience. For me, that all changed on the 2nd of January 2024 when I started my new role as Sales Account Manager here at Simply AMR. Bright-eyed and bushy tailed, I was full of excitement and strangely at ease as I set off to the office on my very first day, which was probably helped by having a very relaxed and enjoyable Christmas break. I’m now four weeks in, and I know this was the right decision.   

Finding the Role

I was unhappy in my current role and scrolling through Indeed every evening, a bit lost, not knowing what my next move would be. I knew I wanted to work in marketing in some form, but it was all new to me and I had no idea where to start. Then I saw this role advertised on Indeed and from the description, I knew it had a good link to marketing, so I applied and waited to hear back. The next day, I got a call from the recruitment agency and as James was telling me more about the company, everything they offer, it’s 20-year history and development within the past 10 months, I was feeling more and more hopeful that this was the opportunity I’d been looking for. All the way from the very first phone call I had with Adam and the team, I felt very content, and we kept in touch right up until my first day, I even got a lovely Christmas hamper

New Beginnings

January 2nd 2024, my first day, I was not only feeling excited and at ease, but also nerve-free, which is not like me! I felt like I was already part of the team, and my first day was a great example of that. My desk was ready, with some lovely new stationery and computer accessories (I wouldn’t expect anything less from an office supplies company) and me and Will hit it off right away! My account list was there waiting for me and with a few explanations about the software and other useful websites, I was off, finding my feet! I love how the team here gave me the perfect balance of support and creative space, particularly Andrew who, in my opinion, has mastered the art of guiding and assisting at the same time as allowing you to learn independently and find your own groove within your role. Everyone showed a lot of confidence in me which was, and still is, very empowering!

The Day to Day

We are now 4 weeks in, and my days are filled with interesting tasks, challenges and conversations, including writing this blog! My main role is account manager, which means talking to all our lovely customers and providing office solutions to help them work smoothly and effectively. I am also assisting Adam with the marketing and am learning so much! My marketing project at the minute is launching our social media platforms and creating content (like this) to share with our growing followers. There is a lot in the pipeline and so much to be working with Adam on this year. I am bursting with excitement and ready to give my all to my customers and my projects.
